College Grant Release Request
In reference to the above subject, I humbly submit this letter to your esteemed board requesting for the release of my grant or part of my grant. Due to the economic crisis that rocked most part of the world in the past few years, the college withdrew my grant of $6,500 as well as that of some of my fellow students. This was in the late 2009. Since then my mother, who is a single parent has been forced to work toe-to-nail to ensure that my siblings and I have access to education and other basic amenities like any other teenager in the country.
The main reasons as to why I am requesting the board to release my grant or part of grant is that, first since I joined college my academic performance has been exemplary and I have been registering satisfactory results in all the units I have done. Secondly, I wish to bring to the attention of the board that my EFC score has been 0 and therefore this means that I am eligible to receiving full or part of my grant. The last point I wish to bring to your attention as to why I strongly feel I should be considered when it comes to the release of my grant of $ 6,500 to enable me cater for my tuition fees is that, my siblings and I have been raised by a single parent since our dad passed on a few years ago as a result of a brain tumor. My mother has tirelessly worked as a casual employee to ensure that as a family we have food on the table, shelter over our heads, clothes to wear and more importantly money for our tuition fees. I have been forced on several occasions to search for casual employment in order to help my mother cater for the huge bills that she has had to deal with.
I believe I am a bright, talented student and have a potential to make a meaningful contribution to the growth and development of the nation and I believe that the board of appeal should consider my case based on the above-mentioned points and release my grant that I desperately need as compared to my other colleagues who are from well off families.
