Recently, I interviewed a health care leader to understand the new and advanced technologies that he applies in his medical setting to improve its service. The expert informed that recently his organization introduced robotic surgery to reduce the patients’ pain and surgical complications. The current paper analyzes how the medical experts perform robotic surgery. Also, it identifies what kind of mistakes the medical staff can make in this procedure.

The Robotic Surgical Process

The health care leader chose robotic surgical instruments because they help medical experts and surgeons to perform complex surgeries in a convenient way. These technologies have different impacts on health care settings and medical authorities. For instance, the robotic technology reduces the incidents of wound infection. Also, it decreases the patients’ postoperative pains. Therefore, the medical expert decided to apply this technology in his health care organization. The robotic surgical instruments consist of two basic components. They are the robotic manipulator and surgeon’s master control console. These instruments are self-powered. Hence, the surgeons can manipulate them by using computer technology. Besides, the surgical robot has remote extensions. They help experts to perform accessible surgery. The medical leader considers that robotic surgery helps the health care experts to perform medical operations in a minimally invasive way. Hence, he will do some more research to improve robotic services. In the past, surgeons used two-dimensional images to initiate traditional surgeries. Often, these processes were complicated and more time consuming. On the other hand, robotic surgery offers more precise and smaller incision surgery with three-dimensional views. This technology reduces the mortality and morbidity rate in the hospitals. Similarly, robotic surgeries are decreasing hospital stays and surgical pain. Additionally, it does not take a long time for a patient to recover after this surgery. The medical experts believe that in past they faced challenges to perform some complicated operations, such as tonsillar carcinoma, cardiac dysrhythmia, and atrial fibrillation (Business Wire, n.d.). According to the report, in 2008, the experts performed the first liver transplantation robotic surgery. Besides, the surgeons apply stereotactic surgeries, 3D mapping systems, and magnetic navigators in cardiology and electrophysiology. The surgeons use computerized catheter guidance system and feedback analyzer to offer precise heart surgeries. Similarly, these instruments play an important role in gastrointestinal, gynecological and neurosurgery and Orthopedics Treatment. These surgical processes find out the solutions for complex cancer operation and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The Mistakes and Errors of Robotic Technology

Robotic technology is one of the most efficient medical technologies. However, a leader might make certain mistakes in these technologies. The computer technologies are improving day by day. However, these instruments consist of different computerized tools and applications. Hence, they require proper training and guidance. Furthermore, cost-effectiveness is an important issue. Robotic instruments are expensive and their maintenance cost is also too high. Therefore, the medical stakeholders require paying a large amount of money for these procedures. Currently, the U.S. Federal Government applies Affordable Care Act (ACA) to reduce the medical expenses. Hence, in this condition, robotic surgery and its expenses may cause financial issues to the medical organizations (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2011).


In conclusion, the health care experts use various new tools and technologies to develop the medical services. These instruments help medical staves to offer safe and secure medical care. Currently, the experts use robotic instruments to perform complex surgeries. These instruments consist of computerized robotic arms, camera, and other surgical tools to provide precise surgery. Also, the surgical camera helps surgeons to get the three-dimensional views inside the patients’ body. As a result, clinical experts can perform efficient operations and reduce mortality and morbidity rates in health care settings. Nowadays, the medical settings offer robotic surgeries for complex issues including tonsillar carcinoma and cardiac dysrhythmia. However, some critics and medical scientists found that these procedures have some drawbacks. Robotic surgeries are more expensive than the traditional surgery. Apart from that, they are too complex. Inexperienced surgeons may face challenges to perform these operations. Hence, the Government authorities should design schemes to reduce the prices and expenses of these instruments. They should introduce medical courses for surgeons that can help them to understand robotic surgery in an effective way. Thus, Government organizations and health care councils can improve new medical technologies.
